Welcome 2026
This year's off to an interesting start but amidst all the devastating news, hope is what keeps us going in the end
I attended an event as someone's plus-one and on our way back, a conversation came up: albeit casual, it's stayed with me ever since.
My goals for 2025.
I was asked if any of them was met, and my answer was disappointingly, a resounding no.
There was a follow up question: were the goals realistic?
And quite frankly, I understood why it was asked. How could I not have achieved a single goal out of all the goals I set out to conquer for the year?
However, I wouldn't say they were unrealistic. I really think they were. There was nothing on that list that was impossible or unattainable.
What that conversation made me realize was that I'd been sitting on my ass for too long, resigning to the fate that my surrounding had supposedly determined for me.
That's definitely not to say I didn't try last year. Because I did. Believe me, I did. But I can tell you for sure that there was a time when I decided to deliberately give up on trying, and take some rest, which I was well within my rights to take. I was beyond due for rest, in fact.
But you see, it gets to a point.
And sometimes, even without knowing it, rest can easily become resignation.
So this year, I'm returning to the vision board, not to wipe out the list from last year, but to reassure myself of the possibility of achieving my goals. I’m not starting over, I’m starting again, with clearer eyes.
With vigor and a renewed hope,
TEG 💞
